Traditional Thai massage has a long history of therapeutic healing. It dates back to over 2500 years ago. Thai massage itself has its roots in India and is based on ayurvedic medicine and yoga. It is often called Thai yoga massage. Thai massage is a holistic practice working physically on the whole body, and most importantly seeks to re-balance the flow of Prana (life force or Qi) that flows through us – supporting the bodies natural healing abilities, relieving pain and tension.
The theoretical foundations of Thai massage is based on energy lines running through the body. When the energy lines become blocked, Prana is unable to flow freely. Working on these lines with massage can break the blockages, stimulate the flow of prana and help to restore general well being. Blocked energy lines result in pain, discomfort and disease.
Thai massage is unlike any other kind of massage, combining yoga stretching, energy work, acupressure, and relaxation into one powerful whole body treatment. Bringing the body into balance. The massage is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. It can be varied to suit a wide range of physical needs, and can be used as a form of physical therapy to aid in the increase of range of motion and muscular strength. Thai massage can help with a with a wide range of conditions including back-pain, joint-pain, headaches/migraines, stress and anxiety, flexibility, circulation, ingestion and much more.
